Dutch Disease - some reading

While busy with my thesis on Kazakhstan’s hydrocarbon resources and their implications for development, I just found out that a previous entry on the ‘Dutch Disease’ seems to be popular and picked up frequently by search engines.

As neweurasia is also about exchange between students, I decided to put my bibliography into the extended entry. Maybe some of you can put some other stuff in the comments section in order to make this list more comprehensive.

My work is by no means exclusively concerned about Dutch Disease effects. It also covers some political implications of the hydrocarbon boom as well as more microeconomic factors, mostly SME and diversification-related.

Also: Could anybody possibly help me out with an electronic copy of: Pomfret, Richard, ‘Kazakhstan’s Economy since Independence: Does the Oil Boom Offer a Second Chance for Sustainable Development?’ in Europe-Asia Studies, Volume 57, Number 6, September 2005, pp. 859-876(18)? If so, please send it to ben(at)paarmann(dot)info - and I shall be eternally grateful!

Please don’t mind the formatting of the following, it got lost while copying it from Word to Wordpress.

It is Terry Lynn Karl and not Terri Karl. If you are referencing her book the least you could do is get her name right.

Do you follow Kazakhstan’s development of its uranium mines? If so I’d like to catch up with you.
