“The Prince” Entry 3: the caring President

While I earlier outlined that President Nazarbayev skilfully keeps control, using the title Nazarbayev writes Central Asia’s Machiavelli “The Prince” to spark discussion (May 18 & 27), he also has the quality of caring about the people. At least he gives than impression to the population.

Caring in itself is better than many other leaders around the world. This “caring” is interpreted as him taking steps that are good for the people of Kazakhstan. I can’t put a scientific analysis to this as how people develop their perceptions of issues and leaders has no mathematical model.

The point again to remember is that he has a loyal following in Kazakhstan, which makes a revolution unlikely.

Clearly, this brings other issues to mind such as whether caring necessarily leads to good judgement and whether one man can see all. What do you think of the philosopher king?
