Medeu Trip
I’t s been a while since I wrote last time for neweurasia.net and now happy start back on writing for the blog. I will start it with talking about leasure time while taking a tript to Medeu sport complex at the Alatau mountains. It takes less a half an hour from Almaty to get to the site actually. Untill I got off the bus when I excited immmidiate strong breeze, I felt really pleased by nature and thought life is so beautiful moving and looking through the window at the gorgeous trees that have grown as the cover of the pyramid like montains.
I tried to find out from the people around at the site what it is known about word ‘Medeu’. Two Kazakh men playing dominos near the tiny fountain in front of the sport complex stadium said that it comes from the Kazakh rich man who lived at the beginning of last century but they could not say what the word ment. Jhanna, retail seller sitting at the edge of the road leading to the mountain top and Chymbulak valley even faraway, said the word may mean “support”. Anyway I couldn’t make it clear.
Though the history of the Soviet Union keeps record of Medeu sport complex, which was built in 1972. Tour guide, Rita, told about the protection preliminaries undertaked by government before 1973 when one of the mudflows happened. The worst ones happened in 1921 and1951, which called the attention of the authorities later and precipitated them to build protection digups on the upper mountians above Medeu sport complex and all the way through to the city of Almaty that was actually a target for a natural disaster from the mountains site.
I felt really pleased by cool weather at the site. It was not crowded with people, maybe because it is fall. I came up to the automated playing site for the children where the operator helped one boy to sit on to ride. I asked him what season is much popular for the visitors to come to Medeu. He said: “Summer, of course.” He was right the only child has exchanged the other one at that moment.
All the way back to Almaty the buildings dominating color of yellow and some blue with the big modern style constructions escorted till I get to the schol yard and I felt relaxed indeed. I guess this was the fastest trip I ever took, it was good for breathing but I must confess some kind of shorcut and I nevertheless hope for more excited and long sited trips.
