Misspelling on a national scale

Translation of Zhanara’s post on the Russian language blog

Here is a photo of an advertising banner in Astana. It’s insane how the designers could make such a stupid and blatant mistake - to write KAHAHSTAN instead of Kazakhstan. The name of the country should be sacred, shouldn’t it? The banner is placed right across the street from the President’s Center of Culture (sic!), on the intersection of two major streets of Astana.

I can assume that this is not the only one advertising banner of such kind. In this regard, I recall the shameful story with the misspeling on the new banknotes of the national currency. Of course, it’s an accidental mistake, but it just can’t be this way! I’m indignant and can’t help not keeping silent and cold blooded about it.

The thing is that no one cares and take the responsibility about such evident and shameful mistakes. Even the huge company like KCell didn’t even take the responsibility to check their adverticements…I’m sure everyone noticed, everyone knows, and first what they should do is just take them off from the streets…It’s not funny like some people think, it’s the matter of respect…may be the designers really didn’t care, but there must be someone to check evth, to be sure no one will be harmed…Shame…
And it’s not the only instance when such horrible mistakes take place in front of everyone…
