On November 29 the Jury that includes well-known and respected people of our country will name the Persons of the Year 2007 in culture, business, medicine and art. The National Project “Person of the Year – Choice of the Year” is far from politics and commercially independent. It has no monetary bonus, and its only equivalent value is a gratitude and a respect expressed by the society and people of Kazakhstan.

The “Person of the Year – Choice of the Year” Festival is an international one. It is held in 5 CIS countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Belarus and is supported by the Brussels-based EMRC.

The selection of the award winners starts with the public opinion polls in all regions of Kazakhstan. The expert voting is held at the same time with the public polling. Further, the obtained results are analyzed by the Steering Committee and classified in voting bulletins. Eventually, the Jury members give their scores for each nomination. The results of the choice are compulsorily audited every year.

This Festival helps to achieve several objectives both in domestic policy, such as: promotion of civic consciousness and national identity, formation of a new institution of honour, stimulation of competition, and in foreign policy (international representation of prize winners and society on the whole, promotion of globalization mass-culture, integration of national projects and enrichment of world culture).
