Hillary Justifies Her Husband, Vows to Promote Democracy
The scandalous story with Y.S. ex-president Bill Clinton Получила and his friend, a Canadian financier who had managed to arrange lucrative uranium contracts in Kazakhstan after visiting this country together with Clinton in 2005, has got its continuation. To remind, Clinton later received a 13 million dollar contribution from a canadian to his charity foundation. Besides, during his visit in the uneasy 2005 - ahead of presidential elections - ex-president stated his support to the Kazakh bid for OSCE chairmanship.
Now, it’s again Hillary’s turn to explain the actions of her husband. In an interview to Fox she said that the description of what had occured was inaccurate in the New York Times.
“He went to Kazakhstan to sign an agreement with the government to provide low cost drugs for HIV/AIDS. While he was there he met with opposition leaders and certainly spoke out about the hopes that we have to have a good relationship with that country,” Clinton said, adding that the acting Republican vice-president Cheney had also gone to the country to praise its regime.
The senator said she had been on record for many years as against the country’s anti-Democratic government and had called for changes:
“So I think that it’s clear that I will stand on my own two feet. I will say what I believe and I will be a president who pursues policies that I believe will be in the best interest of our country,” she said.
However, unfortunately, the financial side of this scandal - which is much more a business and ethics affair, rather than a political one - was not addressed by the presidential candidate.
