Second sentence to Aliev, 20 years more
Below is Zhanna’s translated post from te Russian-language blog.
Former son-in-law of the president (former key figure of the Kazakh establishment, who is already convicted in absentia to 20 years in prison for organization of a mafia-type gang and abduction of people) Rakhat Aliev and former chief of the KNB — National Security Committee – the country’s major special service Alnur Mussayev are found guilty of plotting the coup. Both are sentenced (again in absentia - they are hiding in Vienna for the last year) to 20 years in prison.
“Aliev and Mussayev created an organized criminal gang consisting of fully devoted to them brigands under the guise of a special squad for presidental guard, and led its activity from 1996 till 2007 with the purpose of forceful usurpation of power”, said the prosecutor’s office representative, adding that “bandits were trained in Israel and Egypt at the expense of personal funds of Aliev”.
The brigands were working in KNB, Presidential Guard and Fiscal Police (Aliev was heading these agencies in various times), and received 10+ thousand dollars personally from Aliev, who was thus stimulating them to execution of any order, including the physical elimination of people.
Aliev and Mussayev have also organized development of unrevealable deadly poisons, and in 2001 Aliev personally tried to test them on people. Mussayev, being a KNB chief (and appointed by the president), “organized illegal import of more than 1 thousand samples of poisons”. Moreover, in 2001 Aliev “organized collection of radioactive isotopes, and in 2007 he bought several pens that can shoot woth poison”.
