No Commitments
Below is translation of Adam’s post from the Russian-language blog.
The OSCE functioners and other Western leaders can forget about all Kazakhstan’s promises concerning democratization of the laws on elections, media, political parties and NGOs. It’s time to erase from your memory all the things we said in Brussels in 2006 and in Madrid in 2007. All promises, in exchange of which we obtained your votes for our chairmanship. For those who has problems with understanding, the Kazakhstan’s president plainly explained in his interview with Reuters - “We were elected as full-fledged member of the Organization, and we have no commitments whatsoever”. Alas, the sentence did not enter the final text of the interview on Reuters, but you can read the verbatim report on the “Khabar” website.
