Astana Money in Action

As we reported earlier, the Astana’s 10th anniversary celebration plan included a certain amount of money to be spent for PR in the international media. Perhaps, today we can see it in action on the Voice of America, formerly known as the outpost of free speech in Soviet times. Now Valer Gergely picturesquely praises both the capital city itself, the alleged attractiveness of a Kazakhstan’s invetstment climate and the U.S. State Department’s panegyrics to the Central Asian state. Not a word about other side of the Moon. Not a word simply from the different point of view — as all Western standards of journalism demand. Was it paid? We won’t know, but suspicions will meanly arise…

Funny, but if the article was only criticizing would you ask for A different point of view?

Actually after carefully reading the article I can’t say I found anything to say that Valer Gergely “picturesquely praises” anything.
