Here are some bad news for Rakhat Aliyev coming from the Kazakhstani General prosecutor’s office, which has been pushing for extradition of the disgraced former presidential son-in-law for nearly a year.

On June 11-12, the Kazakh General Prosecutor visited Vienna, where he met with the Federal Minister of Justice Maria Berger. As the press-release states,

“a detailed disussion has taken place in the warm and friendly atmosphere, with the pressing issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction in the law enforcement sphere being negotiated”

Among the issues of collaboration, Kazakhstan’s accession to the European conventions on criminal legal procedures and other general wordings, a pretty concrete things have been addressed as well. In particular, Rachid Tusupbekov and Maria Berger have reached  a principled agreement to foster cooperation in the sphere of extradition of the individuals, who committed criminal offences.
