Askhat coordinates the Kazakh language blog on Neweursia.net. He reports on economical and policy situation in Kazakhstan and focusing on Kazakh society problem. He graduated Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, Kazakh philology faculty. He is working for the National Magazine “San Saltanat”, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Özgecan is a student with a Kazakh background based in Germany. She is currently studying Political Science in Germany and will be attending Sciences Po Paris next year. Her focus lies in the Kazakh diaspora and Kazakh minorities in Turkey.

Ben is an MPhil student at the University of Cambridge. Ben’s interest in Central Asia stems from a research stint for Lutz Kleveman’s The New Great Game: Blood and Oil in Central Asia and work experience with IFES in Bishkek in the summer of 2004. A year later, he travelled from Almaty to Tblisi, and plans to further specialise in the region. He can be reached at ben (at) neweurasia (dot) net.

James studied international relations at Carleton College, with a focus on development and a regional concentration in Central Asia. He was a research analyst at the USAID, where he coauthored a report on the economic impact of demographic transitions and migratory trends on development in Eurasia. He has since joined a government consulting firm specializing in nonproliferation and export control in post-Soviet states, and is also a part-time researcher for Foreign Policy magazine. Arthur is an American living and working in Kazakhstan. He has spent time in both small and medium sized cities, and travels to Almaty whenever he has the chance. Arthur’s background is in economics and public policy, and today he is particularly interesting in issues of poverty and freedom of the press.

Gaukhar is a student at Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Srategic Research (KIMEP), Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, Almaty. She is interested in Journalism, Public Relations, New Information Technologies, Psychology, Books (Paulo Coelho, Robin Sharma), Magazines, Investigative TV Programs. Personal Qualities: friendly, optimistic, purposeful, responsible, and sociable. “I like communicating to smart and active people who view life in a positive way, never despair, and believe in a holy goal!!!”, she says.
