A horse for a nomad was always more than just a cattle. It was a food, a transport and a status thing. There are horses in the monuments of Astana too.
For example, on the riverside there is a monument to Kenesary Khan, or as locals say, a monument to the Horse of Kenesary Khan:

The Republic Square in Astana (or the Central square of Tselinograd) has turned into a skating-rink. It has become a bright tradition, although a very young one — it’s only its second year.

The Respublika Avenue after intersection with Seifullin Street becomes Pushkin Street. The walk started here.
Right behind Abai, there is Seigullin Street. Between the Seifullin’s Museum and the building of Kazakh Law Academy, stands the monument to the renowned Kazakh writer and revolutionist.
